A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEST UNION ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the West Union Attendance Center Lady Eagles Basketball Team completed the 1998-1999 season with an outstanding record of 28 wins and only 7 losses; and

WHEREAS, throughout the Lady Eagles' season, they won several tournaments, including the District 2 Class 1A Tournament, the North Class 1A Tournament and placed third in the State 1A Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Ken Basil and Assistant Coach Jody Johnson, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon the players, including: the naming of Tasha Kitchens to the All-State Team, the All-North Half Team and the All-District Team; the selection of Lyndie Haynie to the All-North Team and Honorable Mention to the All-District Team; the naming of Jennifer Childers to the All-North Half Team and the All-State Team; the selection of Lauren Johnson to the All-North Half Team and the All-District Team; and the naming of Kara Hancock to the All-North Half Team and the All-District Team; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to West Union Attendance Center; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the West Union Attendance Center Lady Eagles Basketball Team and Head Coach Ken Basil and Assistant Coach Jody Johnson for their outstanding 1998-1999 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to West Union Attendance Center, Head Coach Ken Basil, Assistant Coach Jody Johnson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
